Conducted construction inspection services for the Pier A expansion portion of the multibillion dollar expansion of the fastest growing major airport in the nation. Provided up to five inspections simultaneously on a 24-hour per day, 7-day per week basis.
SaLUT provided field engineering, including field project management, quality assurance, scheduling and claims analysis for the largest urban highway construction project in US history. From $12 billion I 90/I 93 project. SaLUT provided up to 23 on-site personnel simultaneously from 1993 through 2006. Projects included tunnels, bridges, ramps, ventilation buildings retaining walls and utilities.
For 11 years SaLUT operated 14 research laboratories at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center dedicated to studying and improving asphalt pavements and bridge coatings. SaLUT had up to 23 staff, including numerous PhD and Professional Engineer researchers, who developed research plans and innovating approaches to solving problems and evaluating materials, conducting research tests, analyzing results, and presenting those findings in professional journals and at conferences throughout the world.
Furnishing technical assistance and engineering services to operate mobile laboratories that travel throughout the U.S. Providing nationwide workshops, equipment loan programs, and technical assistance in order to evaluate, showcase, and promote the use of innovate concrete and asphalt research products.
On four successive contracts, SaLUT operated this laboratory that conducted research into improving foundations of roads and bridges. SaLUT's staff included the world's leading experts on soil nailing and related topics.
Under contract with the Army Corps of Engineers New Orleans District, SaLUT provided 75 monitors who oversaw cleanup activities throughout southern Louisiana.
Reconstructed two portions of the historic C&O Canal that had been damaged during Potomac River flooding in the 1990s. Original materials that could be salvaged were photographed, labeled, and returned to their original configuration. Replacements were constructed using the same source materials and original fabrication methods were practical.
Since 1997, SaLUT has operated the Federal Highway Administration's laboratories that conduct research to better understand and improve concrete pavements.
